About Us
Starlight Astronomy Club consists of members from the local community who are interested in astronomy and observing. Members range in experience and expertise from amateur to professional. New members are welcome and the Club is always willing to lend its help in getting someone started and supporting his/her interests in astronomy.
April through October, our club hosts a free public sky watch once monthly at Canoe Creek State Park, Hollidaysburg, PA. We meet in the parking area on the beach side of the park. Club members will have telescopes for the guests to view the skies with as well as other types of astronomy equipment available to see. Please see our events page for dates and times. Visitors are welcome to bring personal telescopes, spotting scopes, or binoculars as well. If you have a telescope and are new to observing, we will help you learn how to set up and use your new telescope.
Starlight currently partners with the Mountain Lion Observatory at Fort Roberdeau, in Sinking Valley. We are also affiliated with NASA's Night Sky Network and there, all of our club's events, including those with the Mt. Lion Observatory can be seen. Be sure to check out other programs on the NSN calendar as well!
